I love Kate Macleod as an illustrator. I get excited every time I see a book that she's illustrated. Since I own a lot of fashion dictionaries, I honestly bought this book for the pictures, but as a picture book, it's kind of hard to go through the book with the annoying commentary of the author.Often times, the commentary is just snide side commentary that's a bit too much of an inside joke to be funny or clever. It would have been nicer if it was just a run of the mill dictionary, or just an actual picture book, or it could've been better off if there were blank lines with arrows pointing to the picture and you make your own definition.
Yay for the pictures!

The fashion artwork in this unique book is truly beautiful...washes of watercolor over line drawings, on quality paper. Simple, yet incredibly elegant. The clothing descriptions are at once, informative, funny and sometimes just plain silly. Put them all together and you get a delicious little, seemingly, one of a kind, book. Yum....
